It’s been a fun week! We continued refining our performance for next week’s play, rehearsing on stage with microphones, starting to create props and back drops, and ensuring that everyone has their costume plan securely in place! We also enjoyed supporting our Coloma Variety show reps in preparing for their amazing Variety show Thursday night; they were outstanding and shine so brightly!
This Week’s Curriculum:
This week the students completed their persuasive essay and began preparing rebuttal arguments, in preparation for next week’s (very informal) debates. In math, the students explored square root with golden bead material or either cubing or squaring algebraically, and loved it! Everyone is feeling very challenged, but they are enjoying it! In history we learned about California’s water needs and controversies, focusing most on the Hetch Hetchy debate, which linked nicely with our current writing curriculum. We also continued our new hands-on-algebra curriculum, our in-depth word study work, and our literature circle book, The Great Good Thing.
Our class is working hard and learning our spring play, “Name That Internal Organ.” It is very funny and the kids are having a blast. Please encourage your student to take their role seriously and with great pride! Every role in the play is essential to the success of our performance. The play performance will be June 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please make arrangements well in advance to ensure that both you and your child are present for this amazing event! It is important that we have 100% participation.
