We are very excited to announce that we have received two applications for the CAC Parent Representative position, namely Michelle Kiefer and Kimberly Owens. In order to allow adequate time for the voting process, we will hold the CAC election in August, when we return to school.
My name is Emily Ellis. I am delighted to be teaching Kindergarten in the Valley Quail class this year. I have been teaching in some capacity for over 12 years. From 1995-1997, my husband and I were dorm parents at Idyllwild Arts Academy, where I taught 9th grade Humanities. After that, I started teaching younger and younger children, first as an Americorps member in a middle school, then working in a 5th grade and then 3rd grade classroom, while I earned my CA Credential in San Francisco. I landed a lead Kindergarten teaching position at the San Francisco Friends School and felt like I had really found my calling.
In 2006, my husband was offered a job as Managing Director at B Street Theatre here in Sacramento, and, we simultaneously adopted our daughter from India that November. I had the wonderful opportunity to be at home with her for four years, before I started volunteering in her classroom here at CMP, then eventually became a TA in a 6-9 classroom. Four years ago, I was a TA in the Valley Quail class, while earning my Montessori Certification for 3 - 6 year olds. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this amazing philosophy with you and your children.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, horseback riding, bike riding, walking, hiking, camping and spending time with my family.
We are fast approaching the end of the year. Graduation is the last day of school at 9AM in the multi-purpose room. Please bring your child to school, as usual. We will take attendance, have one final circle (sigh!) and then head over to the MPR for the festivities. Once the graduates have their diplomas and the final tears are shed (by me - advance apologies:), you are welcome to take your child with you to celebrate as a family.
In the meantime, we are still working hard and having fun in kindergarten, straight through to the end.
