Teacher

Ms. Darcy

Darcy has been teaching in the Montessori environment for thirteen years. After receiving her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2004 from San Francisco State University, she accepted a position as a kindergarten/first grade teacher at the California Montessori Project Carmichael Campus. During her first year teaching, Darcy attended the Montessori Training Center in Shingle Springs to earn her Early Childhood Education Certification from the American Montessori Society. After her first year teaching a kindergarten first grade combination class, she continued at CMP teaching kindergarten, and now kindergarten and transitional kindergarten combination. In 2008 Darcy enrolled in the Masters program at Sacramento State and received her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Professional Development. Over her years at CMP she has been a kindergarten curriculum lead for six years, a teacher representative with the Campus Advisory Council for a collective of seven years, as well as beginning teacher mentor through BTSA, which is now the Teacher Induction Program, for nine years.

Photography and creating art is a passion for Darcy and although she doesn’t find much time to do it, she likes to express herself in projects around the house, like creating a “mud kitchen” for her daughter, and painting a tree on the wall in her house.  Many years ago she spent a lot of time traveling the world and incorporates much of her travels into her lessons with the students.  Darcy was born into a family of educators and enjoys using what she has learned over the years to guide her daughter through her early years of development.  At two and a half, she is already making her mommy proud every day.
