Emily Figueroa-Newell

Carmichael Campus

Emely Figueroa-Newell came across the Montessori philosophy exploring the educational options for her children.  She enrolled her two children in a private school called Escuela Montessori, Casa De Los Ninos (Montessori Children’s House School) in Puerto Rico where they are from. She started to volunteer in the school which deepened her passion for the Montessori method. Her involvement led to a Middle School (7th-9th grade) teacher’s assistant opportunity.  For two years she worked alongside an International Montessori Association accredited teacher.  Emely was in charge of the development and delivery of the science curriculum. Furthermore, during those two years she went through the Montessori Secondary I and II training from CMSTEP (Cincinnati Montessori Teacher Education Program), at their satellite training centre (INE) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is accredited by the American Montessori Society.
In 2014, Emely and her family moved out to Sacramento, Ca. With the best interest of keeping her children immersed in the Montessori method, she enrolled her children in CMPCarmichael Campus. A year later she started working in the same campus as a Teacher’s Assistant for grades 4th and 5th, in the Abalone classroom.  Emely possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science, major in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico.  And a Master’s Degree in Environmental Assessment and Risk Management from the “Universidad Metropolitana” (Metropolitan University) of Puerto Rico.
Based in her experience as a Montessori mom and a staff member Emely Figueroa-Newell truly believes that the Montessori philosophy should not be limited to the classroom environment, it is a way of life.
