About CMP - Capitol: Growing Together in Learning

About California Montessori Project - Capitol

At CMP - Capitol, our Eagles S.O.A.R. values guide everything we do: Safe, Offering Peace, Always Respectful, and Responsible.  We are a public TK-8 charter school located in the College Greens neighborhood of Sacramento and part of a network of six California Montessori Project schools serving the Greater Sacramento area. Together, we collectively serve over 3,000 students across our campuses.

We provide an authentic Montessori education thoughtfully integrated with California state standards. Our hands-on, child-centered approach takes place in multi-grade classrooms where students thrive with the support of both a lead teacher and an instructional aide. We foster peer collaboration, small group learning, and the development of independence.

Our Commitment to Excellence

We maintain recognized academic standards with a strong emphasis on core subjects through:

  • Small Learning Communities: Intentional class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratios with creative, passionate educators committed to Montessori philosophy
  • Individualized Growth: A framework balancing responsibility, accountability, and freedom, allowing each student to progress at their own pace
  • Academic Rigor & Character: Challenging coursework that develops critical thinking and creativity, paired with unwavering standards of conduct emphasizing respect, honesty, responsibility, and courtesy
  • Social-Emotional Learning: A dedicated focus on developing self-awareness, empathy, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making alongside academic achievement
  • Student Empowerment & Community: Age-appropriate opportunities for collaboration, peer governance, problem-solving, and goal-setting, strengthened by active family involvement

At CMP - Capitol, we nurture capable, confident learners prepared for lifelong success.
